Houston Texans star J.J. Watt has committed to pay the funeral expenses for victims of the Santa Fe High School shooting.

The 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year informed the school of his plans. He tweeted "absolutely horrific" on Friday after learning of the shooting, which left 10 people dead in Santa Fe, Texas.

The Texans also released a statement on the incident. Santa Fe High School is about an hour from NRG Stadium, the home of the Texans.

"On behalf of the Texans organization, we are saddened by the tragic events at Santa Fe High School this morning and extend our thoughts and heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families and all those affected," the Texans statement said. "We are grateful for the brave first responders, law enforcement officials and medical personnel. The Texans family will continue to pray for our neighbors."

Watt won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award after helping to raise more than $37 million in an effort to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Suspected gunman Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, was arrested in connection with the shooting. A court document revealed that the alleged shooter aimed for people he didn't like when he used a shotgun and revolver against the victims. Pagourtzis is charged with capital murder.
